Installing Crestron's Prodigy

Hello - and welcome to my blog about installing a new Crestron Prodigy system into my soon to be built house.   We are still at the design phase right now, but we are hoping to break ground within the next few weeks.

Anyway, yesterday I went into Fort Worth to visit Marvin Electronics.  I wanted to get a better understanding of what it is I'm getting into $$$.  Now I've got to wait another few days before I have an answer.  Oh well.

In case your interested, here is what I looking at doing:

First things first, come up with the zones.  What rooms will share stuff like music and video.  In the case of our house, we will have 6 zones.  The master bedroom, bath, and utility room will be Zone 1.  Zone 2 will be the Theater.  Zone 3 is made up of the living room, kitchen, dinning, and the main hallway that runs down the center of the house.  Zone 4 is bedroom 1 (my office) and Zone 5 is the bedroom 2.  Zone 6 will be for outside, being the front and back yards.

Next, it was on to the lighting.  Because Crestron Prodigy is essentially made up of wireless devices, all I really needed to do was figure out where I wanted my light switches, dimmers, and room controllers.

Sticking to the Zones, lets take Zone 1 and what I wanted to do there.
